The "Mechanics in cell biology" symposium will feature some amazing local and international invited speakers, with talks addressing methodological advancements in the field as well as the underlying molecular mechanisms of mechanotransduction.

The symposium will also feature posters and talks selected from abstracts from PhD students and Post-docs. This event will be a great opportunity to meet people working in the field of mechanobiology.

Professor E L Yong, Full Professor & Senior Consultant at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, National University of Singapore and Director of Research, National University Hospital will be presenting a seminar entitled:“Dietary fatty acids to prevent PCOS”. Professor Yong, with more than 25 years in Obstetrics & Gynaecology practice, specialises in reproductive endocrinology, subfertility, and polycystic ovarian syndrome.

Talk Title: Cerebral Small Vessel Disease & Cognitive Decline in Ageing

Dr Chengxuan Qiu is an Associate Professor and Senior Lecturer in epidemiology at Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden. His research has been based on several large population studies. His aim is to develop intervention strategies towards healthy brain ageing through investigating cardiovascular risk factors and vascular mechanisms in pathological brain ageing and related cognitive and physical dysfunction from the life-course perspective.
